Kingfishers enjoyed attempting to juggle whilst exploring castle entertainment this week. Well done for their valiant efforts. Today in Science we tried to solve a problem! We had to help a knight cross the castle's moat because the drawbridge had broken. We put our engineering skills to the test to create a floating craft for the knight with materials that we found in school. On Wednesday Woodpeckers visited Dunster Castle to find out all about castles. We had a fantastic time learning about what life was like for knights. We used a battle ram to enter the castle and we were asked if we were "Friend or foe?" by the gatekeeper. Kingfishers had a brilliant time exploring Dunster Castle on Thursday. Swans have enjoyed beginning to learn about castles and knights this week. We had a great day out in Goodleigh Woods to experience the wonders of the outdoors at the start of spring and to also enjoy some fairy creations in the woods. We learnt all about the springtime flowers and trees that are blooming and sprouting and we also listened out for beautiful birdsong. We enjoyed squelching and squishing along the muddy paths to reach the heart of the woods and search for fairy woven bracelets, which had been left for each of us. We then made our own fairy dens using things found naturally in the woods. Kingfishers had a brilliant time at Combe Woods, Goodleigh Swans loved their trip to the woods at Goodleigh this week. Building the houses in the fairy village took a lot of concentration but they were amazing.
This term in PE we have been practising and developing our gymnastic skills with our specialist coach. We have also played tag rugby, come rain or come shine, indoor and out!!! |
