Last week Woodpeckers had a great day out in Goodleigh Woods to experience the wonders of the outdoors at the start of Spring, and to also enjoy some fairy tale creations in the woods. We learnt all about the springtime flowers and trees that are blooming and sprouting and we also listened out for beautiful birdsong. We enjoyed squelching and squishing along the muddy paths to reach the heart of the woods and search for wood carved, fairy mushrooms which had been left for each of us. We then made our own fairy dens using things found naturally in the woods.

We all used plasticine to try to make a boat to carry an animal across the Three Billy Goats’ river. All our boats sunk on our first attempt… …But then we tried again On Thursday, Woodpeckers celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our much-loved story characters. We also enjoyed sharing stories, making our own bookmarks and designing a front cover for our favourite storybooks. We have also been really enjoying our gymnastics - learning balancing, jumping, travelling and rolling skills with our gymnastics specialist coach. |
