This week, we had a windy and busy tennis lesson with our coach Gary. We all practised our throwing skills, to develop accuracy. Then we played a game, where we had to try to hit the ball away from the 'catchers' on the other team to score points! We had to really concentrate on our forehand skills to hit accurately to not get caught by the catchers!

On Friday 11th November, Year Two walked to Ilfracombe Parish Church to take part in the Remembrance Service. In Woodpeckers Class we found out all about World War I and II and why we remember with the symbol of the poppy. In Church, we laid a school poppy wreath and we also sang two songs for remembrance. After the service we visited the war memorial and read some of the names of the soldiers that died. Returning to class we created our own poppy designs using paint. This week the children have begun their new topic 'Toys Through Time'. They have enjoyed looking at toys from all different decades. This week Kingfishers have made their own split pin teddy bears, created and put on their own puppet show, created marble runs from cardboard and visited our school toy shop. The children have had a fantastic first week back. |
