This week we have been starting to learn about division. We used counters and cubes to help us to group into 5s. In Multi Skills with Rob we had lots of fun developing a range of skills including jumping, throwing and catching.
This week we have been learning at properties of materials. We have been investigating which materials are waterproof and which are absorbent. In this version of Little Red Riding Hood Grandma gets locked in a cupboard. Do you think she knows what was happening while she was in there? How do you think she was feeling? Watch the version below to find out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kpLdVa7mgk Do you think that the Wolf was trying to eat Little Red Riding Hood? Maybe he was just trying to help her? Watch this video to see the Wolf's version of the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9C56mFNp60 This week, the children have really enjoying using the Google Chromebooks. They learnt how to log on, how to open a document and how to type and edit words.
Poor Rapunzel had a hole in her roof and wondered if we could suggest what to repair it with. We helped by investigating which material would be the best at not allowing any water through. The plastic and the metal were both good choices in the end. Kingfisher Class have been learning to play the Djembe Drums. We enjoyed beating out patterns and rhythms.
The children in Swallows enjoyed our engage day for our new topic ‘Storytellers.’ They identified fairy tales by looking at clues, practised their stitching skills to make puppets, baked gingerbread men and made a forest picture using folded card and black ink. |
