Today we were visited by a Toy Inventor who needed some help. She was very upset because someone has been breaking the toys that she had invented. She gave us two secret missions to complete. We had to; 1. Fix all of the broken toys. 2. Find and trap the person who is breaking all of the toys. Mission 1: Fixing Toys After we entered Toy Land we wandered into the forest where we stumbled across all of the broken toys. There were so many toys that needed fixing but we worked as a team to fix them all. Mapping: As we continued through the forest we realised that we were lost! We decided to draw maps so that we could find our way out of the forest. Making a Bridge: Using our maps we found our way out of the forest but then we came across a river! We thought that we could put on our swimming costumes and swim across but when we looked down we noticed toy crocodiles lurking in the water. Instead, we decided to make bridges. Mission 2: Finding the Toy Breaker After safely crossing the bridge we spotted the Toy Breaker hiding a cave. We designed traps for her and then interrogated her. We found out that she wasn't meaning to break the toys but that she didn't understand how to play with new toys. We sorted some toys into those that are old and those that are new and explained some of the differences. She was much happier after that. Mission Complete!

Swans loved sharing their work and reading their mixed up fairytales with Turtles. Swallows enjoyed a visit from a storyteller called Clive Pig. The children had lots of fun joining in with the stories and songs. Swans are loving reading Mixed Up Fairy Tales. This week we worked as a class to plan simplified versions of Rumpelstiltskin, The Gingerbread Man and The Emperor’s New Clothes. We then worked in groups of three to write an illustrate our books. This year is the year of the tiger to celebrate this we made tiger art work, zodiac spinners and paper dragons. We also learnt and retold the story of the 'Willow Pattern Plate' and made our own plates. |
