This week Jellyfish class had a visit from the dental nurse. They learnt all about the importance of brushing their teeth and what they can do to make sure that they stay strong and healthy. Jellyfish class had a fun filled week with two school trips. The first was to the RNLI Lifeboat Station where they learnt about the roles of the members on the boat as well as the importance of respecting the water. The second trip was to RHS Rosemoor where they learnt about the changes in seasons and all about the flowers that blossom in the spring.
Turtles class had a great time down at the lifeboat station learning all about the different boats used by the RNLI. We particularly enjoyed dressing up as members of the crew. Turtles a great engage day beginning to look at our new topic 'On the Move'. We made a fire station for our role play, painted fire engines and also took a driving test. Starfish class enjoyed a week learning about the Chinese New Year. They learnt the story of The Great Race that created the Chinese Zodiac. They also practised using chopsticks for counting in maths and they watched and recreated their own dragon dancing parade with musical instruments and colourful fabric. Then they made a range of dragon based arts and crafts to celebrate 2024 being the year of the dragon. Starfish had a fantastic day engaging in our new topic 'On the Move'. They painted fire engines, made a fire station role play area and took their driving test. It was a great day! To start our new topic of On The Move, we had an engage day where we focused on firefighters. We created large scale props for our firefighter role play area, drew and painted our own fire engines using watercolours and took our very own driving test to earn our licenses. The children had a fabulous day and are looking forward to the rest of the topic. This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year and 2024 being the year of the dragon. We created our own dragon parade with musical instruments and coloured fabric, made lots of dragon crafts, role played the Great Race and lots more within our independent learning. The children thoroughly enjoyed using the fabric, masks and drums to create our own dragon dance. |
