We are loving our Ready Steady Cook topic. This week we made apple crumble. We peeled, sliced, sprinkled sugar and then made a crumble topping. We couldn't wait to take them home and share them.

Kingfishers had a brilliant time at Arlington Court on Monday. We explored the gardens, house and Carriage Museum. This week, the children in Woodpecker class have continued their induction into chef school by making apple crumble. We had to use our peeling and chopping skills which took a lot of perseverance. We hope that you enjoyed the crumble at home. On Monday 13th November, we celebrated our annual Diwali day. First, we explored how Diwali is celebrated and why it is such an important day for Hindus. We created Rangoli patterns, lanterns and made a Diwali inspired treat - coconut barfi! Kingfishers had a great time celebrating Diwali. We explored Rangoli patterns, made lanterns, watched and talked about the story of Rama and Sita and made Coconut Barfi.
We have studied work by the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He used fruit and vegetables when painting portraits. We used vegetables to create faces and then painted fruit and vegetable faces in the same style as the artist. The class had a great time making scones this week. We hope you enjoyed them at home. The children had a great time exploring our topic including making artwork out of vegetables in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. This term our topic is Ready, Steady, Cook! We had a fun engage day making fruit skewers, rolling and chopping playdough, peeling and grating carrots and drawing our favourite fruits and vegetables. |
