We have been very busy this week finishing off our topic on nursery rhymes. This week we have looked at Five Currant Buns, 10 Sizzling Sausages, I’m a Little Teapot and Jelly on a Plate. We have enjoyed experimenting with jelly, perfecting our scissors skills when cutting out our frying pans and sausages while also thinking about which is the shortest and which is the longest. We have also made lots of tea in our water tray and made potions using lots of lovely smelling plants.

This week Turtles collected a range of leaves from our outside area to create autumnal pictures. We read and discussed the story ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert. We then collected leaves, sticks and other autumnal items from our school grounds and used them to create our own autumnal faces on the playground. In our maths this week we have been looking at repeating patterns. We made patterns with our bodies and different actions and we have used autumnal resources to create our own.
We have been learning how to use scissors correctly and safely to cut straight lines. We made spiders using this skill. We have had a great week in Starfish learning some new nursery rhymes. This week we have looked at Little Miss Muffet. The children have been improving their cutting skills when making a spider and have enjoy reciting the rhyme in our garden. We have also enjoyed sorting objects in our maths learning and going on an Autumn hunt during our outdoor learning time. We found lots of interesting things to add to our Autumn tray like conkers, pretty coloured leaves and acorns. |
