This week we have been learning about symmetry. We have found symmetry in 2D shapes and we have created symmetrical patterns. In maths we have been learning about measuring. We have used centimetres and meters to measure objects and compare them. We have been learning about maps in Geography. We used a giant grid to help us move using the compass directions- North, South, East and West to help us reach our destination. We also created our own map to challenge our friends on their directions.
We have been studying materials and their properties in science. We have designed, made and tested swords and shields. We had to think about which materials would be suitable to make these items and why. This week we have been starting to learn about division. We used counters and cubes to help us to group into 5s. Kingfisher Class have been enjoying making our Christmas cakes this week. We have used all the skills we have been learning in our DT lessons, such as measuring, mixing and stirring. We are now looking forward to decorating them with icing and then eating them of course!
Kingfishers have been enjoying learning new skills in cricket. We have learnt how to catch, throw accurately and hit the ball at a target. |
