Zebras enjoyed their engage day, hunting for different plants and trees in the school grounds and making clay spirits to put on the trees in the forest school area. We also experimented with charcoal and ink to make collaborative forest scenes.

Lions class had a wonderful day engaging in their new topic Enchanted Woodland. The children spent the morning creating tree spirits from clay, identifying a range of flowers and trees and sketching trees using pencil and charcoal. In the afternoon the children did some beautiful collaborative woodland pictures using charcoal and Indian ink. They also had the opportunity to make their own tree sculpture from clay.
This week in Elephants we had an 'Astronaut Day', when we found out about the life of Neil Armstrong. We also had an astronaut training session, where we practiced our climbing and balance skills and also working as a team to prepare for science exploration in a space station! We also crafted our own astronaut helmets. Finally, we visited a moon base and became astronauts collecting moon rock. Zebras enjoyed the experience of travelling in a space rocket, working in a moonbase and collecting samples of moonrocks this week. They also learned about Neil Armstrong, the first astronaut to walk on the moon. During the day the children made space helmets and watched a video of the moon landing. In Zebras class we investigated materials to decide which would make the best landing craft for our eggstronaut. The children then made their landing craft and tested it to see if the Eggstronaut had safely landed. |
