This week Elephants visited RHS Rosemoor to find out about growing Fabulous Food. We planted our own broad bean seeds to grow. We enjoyed exploring the gardens, even in the wet and windy weather!

In Elephants, we have been learning all about the weather in Science. Each week we have been measuring the weather using a thermometer, to find out the temperature, and we have made our own rain collector, to measure the rainfall each week. This week we collected 6cm of rain! In music, we have been singing a new weather chant. Lions class have enjoyed learning a lots of different songs during our A is for Africa topic, but this one has to be a class favourite. The children in Lions class really enjoyed learning about the celebrations and traditions for Chinese New Year. The children had the opportunity to write decorative banners, make envelopes with kind words inside, paint tigers with watercolours and make dragon puppets. In Elephants this week, we have learnt about and celebrated Chinese New Year. We read the story of the first Chinese New Year and how the animals raced to win the year. We made our own Chinese dragons and painted watercolours of a tiger to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. |
