Elephants Class went on an 'Inspirational Nature' trip, to RHS Rosemoor this week, exploring natural art. We collected fallen materials (leaves, petals, twigs, moss, cones and stones) from the gardens and looked for lots of different colours using our colour charts. We then created our own 'pictures'. We have also made a flower craft from camellia petals and planted our own Nasturtium seeds. We can't wait to watch our seeds grow back in class!

This week in Science Zebras have been planting their own tomato seeds, so that they can watch them grow. The children are all very excited to have the responsibility to care for their plant. Lions class had an enjoyable trip to RHS Rosemoor this week. They first looked at a gallery of artwork composed with natural objects. The children then set off with a colour chart and buckets to collect leaves, sticks, petals and other natural resources from around the garden. They then created their own artwork using what they had collected. The children then had the opportunity to plant some Nasturtium seeds and create a flower decoration. After lunch they enjoyed a walk around the gardens and a play in the play area. In Elephants class we have been using our previous skills of clay modelling to create clay trees. In Zebras class this week the children have been exploring using charcoal to create sketches of trees.Lions had a fantastic first session back in the school swimming pool. The children practised travelling across the pool in different ways, had a go at using floats and played with the pool toys. Lions have had an 'egg'cellent time celebrating Easter today. Look at our beautiful Easter Cards. In Zebras Class this week we have been designing and building our own moon buggies, using moving parts for the wheels. We then took them out to the playground to test them! This week Elephants class investigated which materials will make a rocket fly the furthest. They made their own rockets, launched them and also measured how far they went. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....blast off! |
