The class had a fantastic morning with musician Becki Driscoll. The children got to play a range of different instruments and composed their own song about superheroes! Zebra class had a fantastic engage day for their new topic 'Superheroes'. The children made capes and masks, painted cityscape pictures and went to a superhero training academy! We had a wonderful time visiting our local library. Cath read/rapped a story and then we got to play and explore the books available. The children have had a lovely time this half term exploring the forest school area and learning more about nature. The children walked down to Ilfracombe Library where Cath read them a story about 10 little ducklings. They then had chance to read picture books, colour and explore the toys within the library. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were asking to go again soon. We have been very excited to have ducklings at our school. The children have watched them hatch from their eggs and we can't believe how much they have grown in just a week! As part of art, year one have been taking a closer look at birds. We did some observational sketching of birds from videos and close ups. We drew feathers using a range of materials such as oil pastel, charcoal, pen and pencil. Using all of these skills, we created our own birds using card and the different materials we had practiced with. The children enjoyed celebrating Holi festival today as a whole school. We wrote about how and why it is celebrated. We then drew self portraits and splattered them with colourful powder paints to celebrate the start of spring. |
