Foundation have been working hard during maths this week by exploring the different names and properties of 3D shapes. We have been on a 3D shape hunt around the school and experimented with different shapes by discussing their properties and predicting if they would roll. This week the reception children have been naming and identifying 3D shapes. They have made models, naming the shapes they used, been on a hunt for everyday 3D shapes around school and they will be sorting the shapes into groups using a criteria of their choice.
Each morning we come into class and get busy with our learning. Today we were exploring some of the maths resources. In the afternoon we were using the chrome books to draw pictures of ourselves. Starfish class have been learning about the weather. In Science, they made wind gauges to measure the speed and direction of the wind. In Maths, the reception children have had fun comparing numbers to 10. Starfish enjoyed their visit to Ilfracombe library this week. They listened to stories and learnt about the range of books that are available to borrow. Every Wednesday Turtles class have football with James. It was raining this week so had to stay inside but we still had just as much fun learning new skills. During forest school this week Jellyfish class have been developing their whittling skills. They learnt the importance of using the correct techniques and safety equipment when using sharp tools. |
