The children in Starfish class had a fantastic day at the harbour and Tunnels beach. They discussed the human and physical features at each place, sketched the boats, built sandcastles and found lots of crabs in the rockpools.
Dolphins class had a fantastic trip to Ilfracombe Harbour and Tunnels Beaches. Everyone had a great time.
We had a fantastic day visiting the Tunnels Beach and the harbour. We were rockpooling, digging, making sandcastles and learning about the human and physical features of our town.
The Seahorses loved going on our trip to the harbour and Tunnels Beach this week. We sketched the boats in the harbour, looked at the different human physical and human features around us and also explored the rockpools to see what sea creatures we could find.
We have had a busy week painting in Turtles class. We have been looking at the work from the artist Gustav Klimt. Year 1 children have begun to use his techniques when painting and will add layers of pattern and texture like he did. Reception have been using clay to sculpt with and make fish. Then they painted them. In addition we all worked together to start changing our role play area to a new underwater theme with a submarin
Starfish enjoyed learning about the ocean and engaged in a range of activities, They made a pirate patch and hat, sang songs, created a collaborative art ocean scene, learnt about animals that live in the ocean and learnt about pollution.
This week in Seahorses class we began to look at our new topic 'Commotion in the Ocean'. On our engage day, we began to look at life in the ocean. We made pirate hats and eye patches, made a collaborative picture of under the sea. We also talked about pollution and how it may affect sea life.
On our engage day we started to learn about life in and on the ocean. We worked together to make a large ocean scene using pastel and brusho paint, make pirate hats and we also considered the animals that live in the ocean and how pollution can be harmful to them.
It has been great to see the children enjoying the swimming pool again this term. They have been building their confidence in the water and learning to swim on their front and back.
We have nearly completed our sculpture unit of work on birds. Over the weeks we have enjoyed drawing birds, feathers, looking at techniques to add 3D effects and this week we have been making our bird sculptures.
