We celebrated Eid by baking some moon and star biscuits, creating a wonderful piece of artwork and writing an invitation to an Eid celebration party. Swan Class had a wonderful day exploring Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colour, a Hindu festival celebrating the victory of good over evil. The Kingfisher class enjoyed learning about the Holi festival and hearing the stories from our visitor. Inspired by this session, the Kingfishers created some artwork by throwing powder paint at their paper and writing some facts on their work. The Kingfisher class enjoyed their trip to Dunster Castle. The children walked around the grounds looking at the features of castles. Inside, the children learned about banquets and how people would have lived. Year 2 went on a trip to Dunster Castle. We explored both inside and the outisde of the castle, as well as walking along the river path to see the water mill. On Tuesday 3rd March, our Year 2 children enjoyed a wonderful day out at Dunster castle to support their current topic: Dragons, Castles and Knights. This term, the topic for Year 2 is Dragons, Castles and Knights. They began the week by exploring the features of a castle and then using pen, paint and charcoal to create pieces of art. They continued this work in History, later in the week by looking at different castles around the UK and noticing the various features.
