edSwans enjoyed learning about the Jewish festival of Passover. We found out about about the importance of a Seder plate and how Moses led the Israelites on a journey from slavery to freedom.
Miss Simpson accidently dropped her egg in lots of water so we had to find a way to make it float. We found that it would float if we put salt into the water! Miss Simpson was then very clumsy and she dropped the egg on the table! We were then given the challenge of finding a way of protecting our egg if it was dropped from a height.
We have really enjoyed experimenting with floating and sinking. In the forest school area we investigated which materials would float and which would sink.
We found out that a ball of Plasticine would sink so we posed ourselves a question:
Can you make a ball of Plasticine float?
We discovered that by changing the shape of the plasticine you could make it less dense than the water and so it would float!
Swans have loved learning about the Great Fire of London. We have put the events in order on a timeline, learnt about why it was so hard to put the fire out, made our own houses, wrote a diary inspired by Samuel Pepys and even created London before the fire and now, to see how the city has changed as a result. Some of the children were even inspired to create their own art work at home!
