The children had a great day learning about and celebrating the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children made Diya Lamps, designed Mehndi on the laptops and made Rangoli light catchers. The children in Zebras had a brilliant day searching for scarecrows, talking about the past, discussing seasonal changes and doing observational drawings.Giraffe class enjoyed a very wet visit to Arlington Court to see the Scarecrow trail and spot our very own Wolf scarecrow. We also enjoyed touring the carriage museum and exploring the grounds looking for the different scarecrows others had made. We then returned to school to do some observational drawing of natural items we collected from Arlington. Year One have been learning about the Gunpowder Plot this week. The children have loved the story of Guy Fawkes and the team behind the plot to blow up The Houses of Parliament. The children in Zebras class ripped and tea stained paper in preparation to make WANTED posters for Thomas Percy. They also engraved printing tiles with firework patterns and printed them in bright colours ready for a silhouette of The Houses of Parliament to be placed on top. The children enjoyed exploring the forest school areas and threading conkers. |
