The children had a wonderful couple of days being immersed in their new topic Once Upon a Time... which will focus on traditional tales. The children baked and decorated gingerbread people, made Red Riding Hood and wolf masks, worked collaboratively to create a woodland with charcoal and ink and went on a gingerbread man hunt around the school.

The children thoroughly enjoyed our Easter crafts making afternoon. What a fantastic start to a new term! We loved our engage day. During the first two days of term we hunted for the gingerbread man, collaged book characters, made and decorated our own gingerbread people, made puppets, built part of our role play area, planted bean and grass seeds. We are already loving this new topic. The children, parents and carers enjoyed coming into the classroom this week to share Spring crafting time together. Starfish class have really enjoyed learning to use a range of tools for digital painting. They used these tools to create their own self-portraits and then focused on line, shape and fill tools to create digital paintings in the style of Piet Mondrian. We have been learning about the Easter story and the meaning behind the Easter symbols in Jellyfish class this week. We have also had some great fun with lots of Easter crafting with the help from our adults and grown ups. Dolphin class had a wonderful afternoon making Easter crafts with their grown ups. Foundation have been working hard during maths this week by exploring the different names and properties of 3D shapes. We have been on a 3D shape hunt around the school and experimented with different shapes by discussing their properties and predicting if they would roll. |
