We walked to Ilfracombe Library and had the story 'The Runaway Pea' read to us by Cath. We then explored the books and toys within the children's library before walking back to school. Lions had a great time at Rosemoor Gardens where they made their own little clay creatures by adding natural items they found on their walk around the gardens. Giraffes enjoyed their visit to Rosemoor Gardens to take part in an Inspirational Nature workshop. We explored the gardens and played in 'The Thrash' play area before enjoying lunch in the sunshine. For the workshop we scoured the gardens for a range of natural resources and used these to create our own woodland animals with clay. We then planted some radish seeds before heading back to school. The children enjoyed a visit to the local library. The listened to the story of The Runaway Pea and had time to explore all the amazing books. Year 1 had a brilliant time, designing, making and testing their landing crafts for their eggstronauts. In our science, Year One have been reviewing their understanding of materials and their properties. We have then used this knowledge to create a way to protect an 'Egg-stronaut' and their landing back on Earth. The children had a fabulous time creating their designs and testing them out using real eggs on the playground- ensuring it was a fair test too. |
