The children were fascinated by the fairy tale scarecrows around the beautiful grounds of Arlington Court. They especially liked seeing the gingerbread man scarecrow that Jellyfish and Turtles made at school. The children also loved the stables and were really interested in the carriages and old artefacts in the coach house.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning the story of ‘The Gingerbread man.’ They made delicious gingerbread biscuits, created stick puppets for retelling and created their own version of the story. The children collected leaves from the school ground, looking for special autumn leaves. The children then used these to print and make rubbings with some beautiful results. The children have made amazing progress with their confidence in the water over the last few weeks. We have been practising using different flotation devices to help us to move in the water on our fronts and backs, keeping our legs straight and kicking. The children have started to listen to and join in with the story "Little Red Hen" and made collages of the hen. First they made paper feathers practicing their cutting and snipping skills. |
